This remarkable terracotta votive tablet depicts the Buddha standing in a meditative posture, his hands crossed over his chest in a gesture of inner calm and spiritual radiance. Hand-cast, this ancient piece demonstrates traditional craftsmanship inherited from the earliest periods of Thai Buddhism, in interaction with the Mon and Dvaravati styles.
The standing Buddha here symbolizes awakened presence in the world, vigilance, and active compassion. This type of image was often offered in devotion or embedded in temple foundations to spread the Buddha’s blessing and accumulate merit.
