This rareancient Buddhist votive tablet comes from a temple in Nakhon Pathom , near Phra Pathom Chedi , the oldest and largest stupa in Thailand. It was discovered during renovation work , in a woven basket hidden in a wall, containing many other tablets of various designs.
The piece features 54 representations of the Buddha , carefully cast onto its surface. These multiple imprints are not merely decorative: they symbolize the accumulation of merit and the complete path to Enlightenment. Each Buddha acts as a repeated blessing, amplifying the object’s spiritual power.

The number 54 has profound spiritual significance. It evokes the 54 qualities of the path to enlightenment (the perfections, sublime virtues, and practices of the bodhisattva), as well as certain representations of Buddhist cosmology. This repetition of the Buddha in all his forms represents the multiplication of blessings and the collective strength of the Dharma .
Tablets like this were often sealed into walls or stupa to protect the temple and preserve the memory of the donors. This piece is therefore much more than an object: it is a living relic of popular faith , testifying to the importance of the Phra Pathom Chedi as a high place of worship and dissemination of Buddhism in Thailand.
