This ancient votive tablet in gray terracotta , rustic in style and worn by time, represents a seated figure in meditation, which can be associated with a primitive form of the Buddha Ksitigarbha ( Phra Phuttha Phra Sai Yam in Thai). We can see a sphere held in the hands , placed on the knees in a posture of calm, as well as a necklace sculpted in relief, a rare detail in classical Buddhist iconography.
This type of amulet is typical of ancient local productions , often made to be buried in the foundations of temples or distributed to the faithful. The gray, slightly sandy terracotta indicates ancient handwork, without industrial molds.
Connection with the earth (Ksiti in Sanskrit): anchoring, stability, endurance.
Ritual sphere : possible representation of the jewel (cintāmaṇi), the promise of rebirth or the transmission of the dharma.
Energy of humility and truth : raw, non-idealized work, promoting connection to the essential.
Height : 9.5 cm
Width : 6 cm
Weight : approximately 85 grams.
Estimated origin : probably Northeast Thailand or Laos border area, early 20th century or older.
Primitive style : absence of refined details, but strong spiritual presence.
Traces of limestone and mineral deposits visible on the surface
📿 A rare and sincere piece, perfect for practitioners seeking objects imbued with history and sacred simplicity. Place on an altar, frame, or place in a Buddha statue to charge it.
