Gampopa (1079–1153), also called Dhakpo Rinpoche, is a historical master of the Kagyupa lineage.
and more particularly of the branch called Karma-kagyu.
A disciple of Milarepa, he is considered the founder of the Dhagpo Kagyu mother lineage,
and the ancestor of the « four great schools » of the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism founded by four of his disciples.
