This large red terracotta votive tablet depicts Phra Leela , the walking or « dancing » Buddha, a symbol of grace, harmonious movement, and the spread of the Dharma. Phra Leela is a rare and highly prized image in Thailand, associated with benevolence, lightness, and the ability to move forward without obstacles.
The tablet features a classical style, with a standing Buddha in a walking posture, draped in a fine monastic robe, and his left arm raised in a blessing gesture. This type of image inspires spiritual progression, the removal of obstacles, and protection while traveling.
The cast inscription on the back clearly reads: « Phra Satkédi, Wat Nong, 2478 » , which corresponds to the year 1935 in the Gregorian calendar. This votive tablet is a reissue of a series dating from 1935 by Venerable Phra Satkédi of Wat Nong (a small temple in the Chiang Mai area).
