🐍 This Phra Naphok (พระนาภโพธิ์) amulet is a sacred and historical piece, created in 2540 BE (1997) to celebrate the 84th birthday of His Holiness Supreme Patriarch Somdej Phra Sangkharat Phra Yanasangwon , then abbot of the venerable Wat Bawon Niwet Vihara in Bangkok.
The solemn blessing took place on October 3, 1997 , bringing together an elite assembly of eminent monks in the Buddha Hall at Wat Bawon, in an atmosphere of great fervor. This limited edition is called « Charoen Pokkasap » (เจริญ พกทรัพย์) , literally meaning « abundance and prosperity. »
The front side depicts the Buddha beneath the Naga King Mucalinda (Phra Naphok), meditating in the Lotus pose under the protection of the seven-headed Naga, a symbol of wisdom, stability, and power against harmful forces. The reverse side features a royal yant with two entwined nagas surrounded by texts in Thai and Khom letters evoking longevity, luck, and the power of the Dharma.
In Thailand, Buddha Phra Naphok is the protector of people born on a Saturday .
🪷 When a Buddha takes refuge beneath the Naga, he embodies the spirit of independence in the face of the storms of the world. This amulet embodies not only this spiritual stability, but also the rare blessing of one of Thailand’s highest patriarchs. It invites the wearer to walk under the protection of the Dharma, with an unwavering clarity of heart.
