Invisibility balls consecrated by the Most Venerable Luang Phor Phromma
of Wat Hin Panang Koi (Ubon Ratchathani).
*
This type of talisman was formerly used to protect warriors by making them « invisible »
on battlefields. This power is mentioned in the legends about Phra Khunpen.
The Most Venerable Luang Phor Phromma was the very last Venerable
to know how to make this type of amulet.
You obviously don’t become truly invisible when using these balls
(if you look in a mirror or with a camera, you still see yourself perfectly).
But on the other hand, you become « invisible » in the sense that you stop attracting
the attention of others, very practical for passing customs without wasting time,
for walking in a red-light district without being bothered,
traveling in a third-world country without being pursued by beggars,
avoiding pickpockets in the subway, or avoiding making
new riot police friends during a demonstration…
In the case of these invisibility balls, traditionally warriors used to place them under their tongue when they wanted to become invisible, but in this case, the temple has placed these balls in waterproof reliquaries, so it is impossible to take the ball out of its reliquary to put it in your mouth.
We are not warriors on an ancient battlefield, and we don’t necessarily want to suck a metal ball (and risk choking on it), so simply keep this amulet in your pocket and wear it as a pendant when you need discretion.
