This Dzi is of recent handcrafted manufacture but shows a very beautiful patina.

Sacred nine-eyed Dzi beads are considered magical objects by Tibetans. They are believed to have magical and protective powers and are worn as jewelry, used in religious rituals, or to adorn temple statues. Nine-eyed Dzi beads are particularly rare and prized, and can be worth thousands of dollars (in the case of antique nine-eyed Dzi in perfect condition). Dzi beads are believed by legend to have been formed by raindrops that fused with agate stones.
Tibetans believe
that these pearls were created by the gods to protect human beings
against evil spirits and bring peace and prosperity.
