These amulets come from the holy city of Pashupatinath (Nepal)
and were dedicated for 9 days
during the religious festival of Bada Bassain (Navaratri)
which is dedicated to Goddess Durga .

During this festival, Goddess Durga (who is an aspect of Parvati, the consort of Shiva) is worshipped in nine different forms:

Durga Maa : Goddess of war whom no one can harm.
Maa Kali : Goddess who controls time.
Jagadamba : The mother of the universe.
Annapurna : The goddess of abundance who gives food.
Sarvamangala : The goddess who gives joy.
Bhairavi : The goddess of death.
Chandika : The wrathful goddess.
Lalita : The goddess of games.
Bhavani : The goddess who gives Love.
