Strange and fascinating small Thai amulet depicting a Lersi mask with an intense gaze, made from grey raw clay and then hand-painted in the 1990s. This old piece possesses an atypical presence and a very particular raw charm.
The Lersi’s face is covered with gold paint with white hand-painted details around the eyes and beard. The amulet is preserved in an old transparent teardrop-shaped reliquary.
Unfortunately, the top of the Lersi’s hat is broken, but the fragment is still present and held in place inside the reliquary, which preserves the overall appearance and authentic character of this piece.

Lersi amulets are traditionally associated with the thaumaturge hermits of Thailand, masters of occult sciences, deep meditation, and ancient magical knowledge. Each mask has a unique expression meant to reflect a particular energy.
This small handcrafted piece emanates a mysterious and ancient atmosphere, enhanced by its imperfections, traces of time, and naive style typical of certain popular Thai productions of the 1990s.
🪔 Despite its imperfect condition, this amulet seems to have traversed the decades as a discreet witness to ancient Thai beliefs. Its strange, almost living gaze evokes forgotten altars, mountain hermits, and secret rituals whispered in remote temples.
